The Cíes Islands hosted a guide dog training session organized by ONCE over the past few days. The dogs used the paths and boardwalks of the archipelago to continue their training in an environment different from the one they are normally used to.
Contact with new spaces, sounds, surfaces, and the presence of visitors allows the animals to become familiar with a variety of situations and learn to react calmly and safely. The training is not limited to technical skills: it also develops confidence, concentration, and the ability to adapt.
The session sparked the curiosity of visitors, who were able to learn firsthand about the training process these animals undergo before they begin accompanying people with visual disabilities and contributing to their independence in everyday life.
