Conservation actions

The conservation actions of LIFE INSULAR within the SAC Complexo Húmido de Corrubedo (ES1110006) will be developed in the Sálvora archipelago, since it is an insular territory with an important representation of dune ecosystems and coastal scrub, which makes it a an ecological enclave of great value. Specifically, the execution of the following actions is proposed:

-Action C7: improvement of the structure and functionality in 42 ha of habitat 2130* (100% of the habitat in the archipelago) through the elimination of IAS that affect its conservation status.

-Action C8: improvement of the structure and functionality in 85 ha of type 4030 (100% of the habitat in the archipelago), through the elimination of IAS that affect its conservation status.

-Action C9: implementation of measures against anthropogenic pressures on the 2130* habitat that allow an improvement in its future prospects in 42 ha (100% of the habitat in the archipelago).

The action in Sálvora is especially relevant since the sensitivity and fragility of these habitats to the pressures and threats identified by the project is higher than other types of habitats present, since they are enhanced due to the effects of global climate change. (see Form B2d).

The ownership of the land chosen in the SAC Complexo Húmido de Corrubedo (ES1110006) for LIFE INSULAR represents an added value for the project, since it is publicly owned land (owned by DXPN, associated beneficiary of LIFE INSULAR and competent regional body in matters conservation of natural heritage and biodiversity), including a large part of them in the Maritime-Terrestrial Public Domain (DPMT) managed by the General Directorate for Sustainability and the Sea, the body that has supported the project. This will make it possible to reinforce the proposed conservation actions and ensure the long-term maintenance of the beneficial effects of the conservation measures.
