2026/11/05: Restoration work progresses at a very good pace in Lurgabrack

During the last month, the restoration work carried out by the LIFE INSULAR project at Lurgabrack Nature Reserve (Ireland) has progressed at a very good pace. The actions are being carried out in the Special Area of Conservation (SAC) Horn Head and Rinclevan and consist of the removal of senescent forest plantations and the removal of isolated invasive trees.

The intervention makes it possible to reduce the presence of 10 hectares of tree formations occupying former dune areas and to promote the recovery of priority habitat 2130*, corresponding to fixed coastal dunes with herbaceous vegetation.

Consequently, it contributes to the recovery of dune ecosystems and to the improvement of biodiversity in this Natura 2000 Network site.
