Cortegada Island hosted an environmental volunteering day last 9 August, in which young people interested in learning about and contributing to the conservation of this area of the National Park of the Atlantic Islands of Galicia took part.
Throughout the activity, organised by Conecta Galicia within the framework of the Conecta +Youth project, the volunteers were able to learn about the island's natural and cultural values and actively participate in its care. Cortegada stands out, among other features, for its unique laurel forest, considered one of the most important in Europe.
The initiative, funded by the Provincial Council of Pontevedra, seeks to promote among young people knowledge of heritage, participation and commitment to the conservation of the territory. An experience that shows that getting to know natural areas is also a first step towards valuing and protecting them.
