An Taisce Donegal Local Association invites you to a Nature Walk at Murvagh for Ireland’s National Heritage Week 2026. We meet at Murvagh Beach Carpark at 11 a.m. on Saturday August 22nd.
The title of the walk is “Managing Dunes and Forestry for Biodiversity”. Murvagh was originally all sand dunes. The conifers, which were planted some seventy years ago, have given an interesting addition to the already rich biodiversity. But restoration of some of the planted dunes is now necessary. It is part of the LIFE Insular Dune Restoration Project.
We will explore the rich and attractive biodiversity of Murvagh and look to its future.
We thank Ralph Sheppard who will be our walk leader.
