2026/07/02: LIFE INSULAR and LIFE Wild Atlantic Nature strengthen cooperation through new monitoring methodologies

As a continuation of the synergies established between the LIFE INSULAR and LIFE Wild Atlantic Nature projects, a drone flight was carried out in the Glenveagh National Park, with the aim of strengthening cooperation between both projects and exploring new possibilities for technical monitoring applicable to the conservation and restoration of Atlantic habitats.

This action allows obtaining updated graphic and cartographic information on the state of the territory, facilitating the analysis of the structure of the vegetation, the characterization of the landscape and the identification of elements of interest for environmental monitoring. The use of drones constitutes a very useful support tool to document the evolution of natural spaces, improve the precision of technical assessments and generate materials of interest both for management and for the communication and dissemination of results.

The flight over Glenveagh is particularly relevant due to the ecological value of this area and the interest in the management experiences presented during the meeting, including habitat restoration, native vegetation recovery and improvement of the conservation status of natural ecosystems.

This collaboration exemplifies the value of networking between LIFE projects, allowing the sharing of methodologies, knowledge and monitoring tools applicable to different Atlantic territories. The information obtained may serve as a basis for future technical cooperation actions between LIFE INSULAR and LIFE Wild Atlantic Nature, as well as to strengthen the evaluation, dissemination and transferability of the actions developed within the framework of the project.
