As a continuation of the synergies established between the LIFE INSULAR and LIFE On Machair projects, a drone flight was carried out in Lurgabrack Nature Reserve, in the Horn Head and Rinclevan SAC, with the aim of strengthening the technical exchange between both projects and contributing to the monitoring of coastal habitats of high ecological value present in the area.
This action allows obtaining updated graphic and cartographic information on the state of the territory, facilitating the analysis of the structure of the vegetation, the distribution of the habitats and the identification of possible monitoring or management needs. The use of drones constitutes a very useful support tool to document the evolution of the landscape, improve the precision of technical monitoring and generate materials of interest both for the environmental assessment and for the communication and dissemination of the results.
The flight carried out in Lurgabrack is particularly relevant due to the uniqueness of the coastal systems present in this space, including the mosaic of habitats associated with the machair landscape and fixed dunes, as well as the concentration of LIFE initiatives linked to biodiversity conservation and ecological restoration in this area.
This collaboration exemplifies the value of networking between LIFE projects, allowing the sharing of methodologies, knowledge and monitoring tools applicable to different Atlantic territories. The information obtained may serve as a basis for future technical cooperation actions between LIFE INSULAR and LIFE On Machair, as well as to strengthen the evaluation and dissemination of the actions developed within the framework of the project.
