During the spring of 2026, new technical monitoring drone flights were conducted in Murvagh (Co. Donegal), within Donegal Bay SAC (Ireland), to assess the progress of the restoration work carried out under the LIFE INSULAR project.
This work provides updated graphic and cartographic information on the state of the areas where work has been carried out, facilitating the monitoring of vegetation recovery, the evolution of the target habitats, and the identification of potential needs for additional management. The use of drones is a highly useful support tool for documenting changes in the landscape, improving the accuracy of technical monitoring, and strengthening the evaluation of the project's results.
The information obtained is extremely helpful, as it allows for a comparative analysis of the evolution of the work over time on the conservation status of the project's target habitats (primarily in terms of area occupied and structural characteristics), and provides valuable supporting information for LIFE INSULAR's communication and outreach activities.
