Donegal County Council organised an activity during Biodiversity Week, with the participation of Aengus Kennedy, from NatureNorthWest, and an Taisce group, who visited the woodlands and dunes of Lurgabrack to deliver different informative talks about the natural habitats of the area.
Despite the rain recorded during the day, a total of 15 people took part in the guided visit. The route crossed the conifer woodlands, exploring the nature present within these forest formations, the underlying sandy soils and the objectives that the LIFE INSULAR project aims to achieve in the area, as well as the importance of the planned actions.
Afterwards, the group moved from the wooded area towards the dunes, where the characteristics of the coastal vegetation and the machair habitat, a coastal ecosystem of high natural value, were discussed.
