2026/05/08: The beginning of the restoration works on San Martiño Island started with the commemoration of a historic event at the hunters’ pavilion

The hunters’ pavilion, whose altar was blessed in 1930 on Illa de San Martiño, once again became the witness to a historic moment. On May 7, the LIFE INSULAR works began for the restoration of habitats 2130* and 4030 on the island, through the establishment of the plants produced by the project.

In this way, a unique element of the island’s cultural heritage, which had remained buried for almost a century beneath the dense canopy formed by invasive eucalyptus formations that came to reach more than 30 metres in height, once again witnessed a beneficial LIFE INSULAR action for the improvement of the conservation status of the island habitats.
