The Atlantic Islands National Park of Galicia is replicating the methodology carried out by LIFE INSULAR in relation to the elimination of invasive species of flora that cause a significant decrease in the state of conservation of natural habitats. In this way, through a project funded by the National Parks Network, the elimination of Crocosmia x crocosmiiflora, a species that recently appeared in the National Park, is being carried out from natural ecosystems by manual elimination with small portable tools, without using herbicides, taking into account the fragility of the island environments that discourage their use. With this project, the complementarity of the LIFE program with other funds at a national level is being promoted, as well as increasing the impact of the elimination of invasive species carried out by LIFE INSULAR by promoting its catalytic potential through the application of its methods in other territories or contexts.
