LIFE INSULAR’S comprehensive restoration project between Coillte Nature and the National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) which is set to transform Ards Forest Park, Sheephaven, located in one of Ireland's most ecologically significant Special Areas of Conservation (SAC), commenced in February 2025. This initiative aims to safeguard and restore one of the critical habitats in this environmentally rich region, focusing on the renowned fixed dune ecosystems under the EU LIFE INSULAR project. This project is an integrated strategy for sustainable management of Insular habitats in Natura 2000 Atlantic islands, specifically Ireland and Spain.
