2023/11/02: Technical networking visit to LIFE projects in the Azores Islands (Portugal)

IBADER of the University of Santiago de Compostela, as coordinating beneficiary of the LIFE INSULAR project, went to the Azores Islands between October 23 and 31, for a complete technical networking visit to the Sao Miguel and Terceira islands of this archipelago, and carry out an intense exchange of knowledge with the Government of the Azores and more with the University of the Azores, within the framework of the LIPE IP CLIMAZ and LIFE IP AZORES NATURA island projects.

The extensive know-how generated by the Azorean LIFE projects, especially regarding the elimination of senescent forest plantations, the control of invasive exotic species, and the restoration of natural island habitats, allowed the uptaking of its results by LIFE INSULAR, to be implemented and replicated during its actions in the Spanish and Irish insular Natura 2000 areas that are the object of the project.

In the same way, the presentation of the LIFE INSULAR project to the Government of the Azores and the University of the Azores, enabled the transferability of the knowledge generated by the project, as well as promoting the replicability of the strategies followed and the solutions adopted.
