2022/09/26: Marítime-Terrestrial Galician Atlantic Islands National Park carried out the elimination of a bulbous plant invasive alien species in Sálvora (Galicia, Spain)

During the month of September 2022, Marítime-Terrestrial Galician Atlantic Islands National Park, managed by the General Directorate of Natural Heritage of the Galician Regional government, removed 512 kg of Amaryllis belladonna bulbs from Sálvora island, specifically in the surroundings of the abandoned old town.

It should be noted that Amaryllis belladonna is a perennial bulbous plant native from South Africa, whose most notable feature is that its trumpet-shaped flowers appear before the leaves.

The action, of great importance, was carried out in collaboration with 80 volunteers from Abanca Foundation.
